SportVelo is available for skills clinics and development for cycling groups and teams and for triathlon clubs. SportVelo customizes each clinic for the group and involves a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and practice.

Camps & Clinics

Over the past six years, SportVelo has led a range of camps & clinics including basic skills for beginning triathletes and sprinting for criterium specialists. The combination of Dan’s vast knowledge base and his personable teaching style—with his many anecdotes, analogies, and demonstrations—offers the athletes the chance to master new skills.

The beginner-level clinics cover cycling fundamentals, such as position on the bike, braking, cornering, drills practice, and group ride etiquette. More advanced levels cover a range of skills, such as sprinting, descending, pace lining, race tactics, and time trialing.

Individual skills

Just as he presents skills to groups, Dan also gives one-on-one sessions to individual athletes who want to focus on a specific skill, such a sprinting, descending, or climbing. Each session is customized to the athlete’s skill level and rate of learning. Every athlete learns new skills a little differently, and Dan understands how to best communicate his knowledge so that the athlete improves. The most rewarding payoff for a coach is to see an athlete master a new skill, and Dan has the opportunity to see many of his athletes succeed.

More on Dan’s Clinics

In one 2-hour clinic, Dan provided skills training to the triathlon racing team, See Jane Race. The clinic covered everything from fixing flats to cornering. And within 2 hours it was rewarding to see the women show immediate improvements.

Additionally, Dan has led sprint practice sessions for cycling teams. Each hour-long sprint clinic involved a brief lecture, a short demo, and practice. During practice, he gave each athlete feedback and tips. Although sprinting and lead-outs are technically difficult, Dan explained the complex concepts concisely and offered real-life examples to illustrate his points.
