April showers, May flowers and a chock full of races on the calendar! What better way to spend your spring weekends is there?

April and May Races you Can’t Miss

Right now, we are well into the racing season. We can’t-miss races such as Sea Otter and the Santa Cruz crit, plus Wente and the Madera County Stage Race in April. May road races include Cat’s Hill, Berkeley Hills, Women’s Kern County Stage Race and Mt Hamilton at the end of the month, and triathlons such as Wildflower and the Bakersfield Triathlon, a qualifier for 2008 Triathlon Worlds.
If you are planning on going to Senior or Masters Cycling Nationals this year, registration is open now, and last year the races filled quickly.

Arrivederchi!

SportVelo will be closed May 10th through May 22nd as we scout locations for future cycling camps in Tuscany. Seriously, there is nothing like watching the Giro d’Italia in a café in Volterra with a beer (or chocolate gelato) in hand.

TT’s are Right Around the Corner

Keep all those TT skills you learned at the Contre la Montre TT camp sharp for those races in June—Dunlap and NorCal TT Championships. If you are planning on racing the June TTs as well as the road races, make sure to practice on your TT bike regularly.

High Intensity Training

All SportVelo athletes are invited to the Alto Velo High Intensity Training (HIT) sessions some Tuesday evenings at 6PM throughout the summer. The next session is April 24th, and look for the email for details. Check the calendar for all SportVelo workouts, as well as races where SportVelo athletes are competing. Look for more info about the Monday/Wednesday strength workouts, and the Thursday evening track workouts continue throughout the year.
